OVERVIEW

A Flight Instructor’s Rating (Aeroplane) gives you the privilege to: Impart instructions during flight and to supervise and authorize solo flights by student pilots and supervise flying instructions imparted by Assistant Flight Instructors.

ELIGIBILITY/BASIC REQUIREMENT

  1. Minimum Age:20
  2. Valid CPL
  3. Valid FRTOL
  4. Valid IR
  5. Instructional hours 200 or 500 PIC hours

Oral examination in the following subjects

  1. Techniques of applied Instruction.
  2. Assessment of student performance in those subjects in which ground instruction is given
  3. The learning process
  4. Elements of effective teaching 
  5. Student evaluation and testing, training philosophie
  6. Training programme development
  7. Lesson planning
  8. Classroom instructional techniques
  9. Use of training aids, including flight simulation training devices as appropriate
  10. Analysis and correction of student errors
  11. Human performance relevant to flight instruction including principles of threat and error management
  12. Hazards involved in simulating system failure and malfunctions in the aircraft

FLYING REQUIREMENT FOR FIR(A)

SKILL TEST

Demonstrated to the satisfaction of the Examiner his competency as an Assistant Flight Instructor by performing the procedures and manoeuvres prescribed in the syllabus within a period of six months immediately preceding the date of application.

Step 1: Verify All Validation Is Complete On EGCA

Verify all your documents and requirements as per DGCA

Step 2: Apply For Patter Slot

Find appropriate flying school and apply for Patter flying slot. 

Step 3: Start Your Ground Classes

The applicant shall undergo a Flight Instructor’s Course approved by the Director-General before undergoing the skill test as mentioned in clause.

Step 4: Complete Your Flying Requirement

He/ she shall have demonstrated his competency as a Flight Instructor by performing.Procedures and manoeuvres prescribed in the syllabus by day and by night to the satisfaction of an approved Examiner within a period of six months immediately preceding the date of application.

Step 5: Appear For Oral Exam

Demonstrate his/her Flight knowledge.

Step 6: Appear For FIR Issue Test

Demonstrate his/her Flight skill by giving flight test

Step 7: Submit Your Documents To DGCA

After successfully completion of course and flying test , submit all your valid documents to DGCA portal
